The 21 Day challenge

Over the 21 days between Jan 14th and Feb 3rd, we will pray with a different focus every day (get your guide here). Why? Because we need to discipline ourselves as a church to make prayer an every day (even every moment) part of our lives. The Apostle Paul taught early believers to ‘pray without ceasing’, and we think that’s great advice. What could be different about our lives and faith if we took this wonderful gift of open conversation with God, and we became intentional about it? What would change about our church if every one of us was tuned in to God’s direction for Heritage? It might just change everything.

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

Check out these scripture references to learn more:

How the 21 days works

1. Each day a new prayer topic will be given along with a focus scripture (see below).

2. A sample prayer will be provided for people who are just starting their prayer journey.

3. Throughout our 21 day journey, we encourage everyone to fast from something that is important to them. The reason for the fast is to pray about something during the time you are fasting that you are really seeking God about. (Many people fast from food, others from technology, or social media, or television, or caffeine. The list goes on and on…)

4. Join us every morning for a quick Facebook Live Video for that day’s prayer. Feel free to comment on how your prayers are going!

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)
